My daughter, Brooke, has played fastpitch softball for the past 10 years. I have coached and managed
her travel team for the past 6 years. She is now in college and earned a scholarship to pitch
on the college fastpitch team. I also have a 9 year old son, Brandon, who will be starting his 6th
year of baseball next spring. Needless to say, I am very proud of both of my children and their involvement
in sports. It has been
my experience as a coach, manager and parent, that one of the biggest challenges that sports teams and youth groups in general
face, is fundraising. Over the years, I have washed cars; I have sold candy bars, candles, and many other
products; I have worked Coke wagons; and I have had hat drops to raise the money we needed to operate. While
we have always raised the money we needed to play, quite frankly each of these fundraisers is a lot of work and the profit
to the team often leaves a lot to be desired. During her senior year of high school, Brooke's high school softball team needed
to raise over $5,000 to buy new uniforms, practice equipment and make improvements to our field. I can
report that we accomplished this aggressive goal without washing the first car or selling the first candy bar. The fundraising technique we used was so successful that
